Madison
Welcome to Madison. Zip Code: 37115.
8 miles north of downtown Nashville, this suburb has a lot to love without sacrificing your access to the rest of Music City. It offers some of the same charm as - and easy access to - its neighbor, East Nashville, without the steep price tag. Most of the homes in Madison were built between 1940 and 1969, but you’ll find both older and newer homes throughout this well established neighborhood. Larger lots offer room to spread out without the sticker shock of neighborhoods like Green Hills.
Now considered a neighborhood of Nashville, Madison was a city in its own right from 1857 until 1963 when it was annexed during the consolidation of Davidson County. While this may sound like a dry bit of history, it’s the root of what makes this neighborhood so great. Thanks in part to its origins as an independent community, you can shop, eat, work, and study without straying too far from home while still enjoying metropolitan services like rapid transit buses, a Nashville Public Library branch, and the Davidson County school system.
The Rivergate area of Madison offers shopping and food options that draw customers from throughout the city, all in easy access of the highway and residential neighborhoods. But if malls and chain restaurants aren’t your style, you can still enjoy historic Downtown Madison, just south of the Rivergate hustle and bustle. Downtown Madison is home to small businesses; music venues; and historic Amqui Station, formerly the property of Country legend Johnny Cash and now open to the public as a museum and visitors center. If you’re looking for an outdoorsy way to enjoy your neighborhood, Madison offers plenty of options, whether you go for a quiet stroll in Cedar Hill Park, explore the greenways in E.N. Peeler Park, or make a splash on the Cumberland River.
Madison is a great neighborhood if you’re looking for easy access to amenities and some of the most interesting parts of Nashville without breaking the bank. Whether you’re a young professional looking for easy access to downtown, a family seeking a neighborhood to grow in, or empty nesters seeking a quiet community that still offers plenty to do, you’ll love Madison.
